Overview
Send local weather data from Dark Sky API into the same dashboard that as SmartThings events.
Instructions
Data sent using the same Bucket Key and Access Key will be automatically associated into the same data bucket and thus the same Tiles dashboard, Waves view, etc. The Access Key is a unique key that is used to determine which user account incoming data belongs. The Bucket Key determines which data bucket within that account the incoming data will be associated. Both the Bucket Key and Access Key can be found by clicking on the data bucket's settings link in the bucket shelf (under the data bucket name).
To send local weather data into your SmartThings dashboard, simply use the same Bucket Key and Access Key when implementing one of the following tutorials for collecting local Dark Sky API weather data:
Dark Sky data from a Raspberry Pi 3 + local environmental data from a Sense HAT
The new data collected from Dark Sky API will appear as new data streams in the SmartThings dashboard. In the example above, the local weather conditions and temperature are collected from Dark Sky to simplify the correlation between inside temperature variation and outside weather changes.
Using the same Bucket Key / Access Key for other projects allows you to combine data from additional sources into your SmartThings dashboard. For example, you can use a Raspberry Pi plus an air quality monitor to capture CO2 levels and display the results on the same dashboard as every SmartThings temperature monitor.
